The filing fees in the Superior Court of New Jersey will increase effective November 17, 2014.  As detailed in the New Jersey Law Journal, the increase in fees should raise an additional $42.1 million.  While there is an increase in fees, acting Administrative Director Judge Glenn A. Grant stated than an effort will be made to waive fees for those who cannot pay.

In the context of the Family Division, the cost of filing a divorce will increase from $250 to $275.  The cost to file a motion will increase from $30 to $50.  Finally, it will now cost $25 to file a non-dissolution (FD) application/motion.  This is a very noticeable change because previously there was no filing fee associated with these matters.
