Long Beach Township Municipal Court Attorney
Long Beach Township is commonly referred to as Long Beach Island (LBI) and is a very popular town for summer tourists and vacationers. This is due not only to its amazing beaches but also because it’s home to “Fantasy Island,” “Bay Village,” and the very first “Ron Jon Surf Shop.” Moreover, the area is also easily accessible as a result of its proximity to Garden State Parkway, Route 9, and Route 72. Though Long Beach has only approximately 3,500 full-time residents, it has many summertime renters. Thus the number of people in the area increases greatly during the summer months, and consequently, it is at this time that Long Beach Municipal Court hears the most cases involving criminal offenses that are the result of summer parties and tourism.

The limited jurisdiction of the court doesn’t permit it to decide felony indictable crimes of the first, second, third or fourth degree. Misdemeanor criminal charges heard in the Long Beach Municipal Court are usually disorderly persons offenses. The municipal court is, however, responsible for deciding all traffic and motor vehicle summonses issued within the borders of the town, these include Speeding, Reckless Driving, Driving While Suspended, Driving Without Insurance, DWI, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and Leaving the scene of an accident.
It is important to note that crimes of the first degree, second degree, third degree, and fourth degree are referred to the Ocean County Superior Court for disposition.
