The Borough of Bay Head is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, also known as Barnegat Bay Island, a long, narrow barrier island that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Mantoloking, Bay Head is widely considered to be part of the Jersey Shore’s “Gold Coast”. Bay Head was incorporated as a Borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on June 15, 1886, from portions of Brick Township.
The community was supposed to have been named “Bayhead” after the Bayhead Land Company that developed the area in the 1870s. However, a railroad sign posted in the 1880s labeled the station as “Bay Head,” and the name stuck and was retained when the borough was incorporated in 1886. The name also comes from the borough’s location, that is at the “head” of Barnegat Bay

Borough of Bay Head Municipal Court Lawyer
As with other municipal courts in Ocean County, The Borough of Bay Head Municipal Court has jurisdiction to decide limited types and categories of offenses. The vast majority of criminal violations falling within the authority of the Borough of Bay Head Municipal Court and decided by Honorable James J. Gluck, J.M.C. are disorderly persons offenses. These misdemeanor criminal charges do not give the accused the right to a jury trial although they may result in a record and up to 6 months in jail. Also the court hears traffic offenses, including DWI, DUI, Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, driving without insurance and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
Although more serious indictable complaints may begin in the Municipal Court, they are forwarded to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for disposition or remand.
