At the outset of your divorce case, you must fill out a certification with your initial pleadings (Complaint or Answer) pursuant to Rule 5:4-2(f), setting forth all insurances you currently have in place covering you and your spouse and your children.  If a policy was canceled or modified within 90 days of the date of the certification, it must be set forth therein.  This includes medical insurance, car insurance, life insurance, home owner’s insurance, etc.   This rule helps ensure that the marital lifestyle or “status quo” of the marriage is maintained until the divorce is finalized by stating what insurances were in place prior to the filing of the complaint.
